CASE STUDY
Postgraduate Studies
"Leader of the Future"
  1. Initial Situation/Challenge:

Our Partner was a company in the retail sector, one of the main players in a very competitive market, and the Polish branch of an international corporation. The management staff had mostly been with the company since its inception in the Polish market. They knew their organization well but lacked a broader market perspective. Additionally, the Management Board noticed a silo mentality—each manager focused on their own area, often without considering the impact of their decisions on the overall organization. It was determined that to remain competitive in a dynamically changing and competitive market, it was necessary to influence the thinking of key directors, provide them with knowledge of the latest consumer trends, and consolidate them around a common goal.

  1. Implementation Method:

A curriculum was designed focusing on three main areas. The first area addressed the type of leadership expected by contemporary employees from different generations, how to manage them effectively, and how to deal with challenging managerial issues. The second area focused on effective business management, covering topics such as managerial economics, change management, and making effective business decisions. The third area concentrated on market trends and how to address them.

The Management Board proposed topics for the diploma theses related to the company’s current challenges. These included issues related to internal organization, such as analyzing the current and desired organizational culture, ways of communicating with the market environment, and possible solutions for customer loyalty programs.

  1. Results:

The effects observed by our Partner far exceeded the organization’s initial expectations. The management staff began to collaborate more frequently, broadly, and effectively. A decision was made to refresh the organizational culture in line with employee requirements, employer branding needs, and consumer expectations. The process of introducing new values was initiated. Four out of five innovations proposed during the defense were implemented. The Management Board added an inspirational and workshop component to their cyclical meetings, inviting experts from the Academy. During these meetings, possible further improvements and necessary changes are discussed. Directors began cascading knowledge down the organization, and the development of their subordinate employees was planned.
